Dare I even say it… it FINALLY looks like spring may be in our forecast. I’ve been having winter blues BAD this year. It seems like it has been the winter that never ends! I decided a couple weeks ago, I needed to inject spring into my life. I figured even if it isn’t spring outside, damn it it will be spring in my house!
When we first moved into our house, I just sort of found some “everyday” decor items for when it isn’t Christmas or Fall or any other Holiday we typically decorate for. So I would rotate between everyday decor, Fall, and Christmas. Last year I added in some patriotic elements to carry us through the summer. This year, I needed some things to break up the transition between Christmas, everyday, and summer so I added some spring decor into the mix.
But the idea of buying up a bunch of spring florals and greenery to decorate with in my house could break the bank. I always struggle to find faux flowers that aren’t crazy expensive so I went on a mission and I was surprised to find some great budget friendly options. I figured I would share what I found, in case you too are in need of a little inject spring into your home project too!
P.S. A complete list of sources is at the bottom of this post.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, clearly WHITE farmhouse style is IN right now and everyone and their mother is trading in every space in their home for white, white, and more white. I’ve been feeling the itch too to change things up, but I am also in a huge struggle not to make my home like a page out of a magazine that can easily be recreated or one that anyone can have. I want my home to reflect who I am (and my husband) and I want people to walk into our home and say “this feels like Jenny and Mark”. There’s a huge challenge to create a space that is timeless and doesn’t just conform to the trends of the time.
I decided the solution to keeping my current design and style timeless and uniquely me but also having more of a white farmhouse feel is to decorate using more neutral items and also injecting that spring florals and greenery into our home. And I am thrilled with this balance it creates in our home. It provides a crisp, clean, and refreshing neutral vibe in our home without painting walls or doing a complete remodel I think I would eventually regret.
Another goal of mine has been to utilize items I already have versus the need to buy up everything new. This sounds easier than it really is, but it requires thinking about items in a different function. That cake plate was collecting dust behind a cabinet and now it is showcased in a prominent place in our home as decor. Same with the cow creamer and berry basket, both were just sitting in my cabinets. I also love the idea of utilizing jewelry that you love but never wear as decor. I saw a great idea of using a screen or screen door as a backdrop for layering a piece of art. The list is endless! Experiment, put things together, and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you come up with!
Since starting on a path to really join our family together in our faith and implement prayer time, daily scripture readings, etc. into our everyday lives. My husband suggested that we put some faith based elements into our home too. He was right, although we are faith filled people, our home was void of those daily reminders. I couldn’t believe it when I realized it – I live out my faith in many aspects of my life, but my home didn’t show any of that. So I decided to inject a few elements in there but I didn’t want it to be too over the top.
I jumped for more neutral items that work well to fulfill our goal without screaming HELLO our mantle is an altar. I also used old books to prop items up on the mantle and give varying height. I also love the feeling the fresh, spring greenery gives to the room. Even my husband agreed it makes our home feel more alive than it did previously.
Hopefully this inspires you to make a couple changes in your home – whether it be rearranging things you already own, picking up a couple budget friendly florals to add life to a room, or even taking a more drastic step in your home to help it become more uniquely you!

Thanks Mom! Love you!
I too have been fighting the winter blues and feel like the winter will never end! We are finally seeing that outside “white” color melt away. The sun is getting some warmth to it and the infernal wind isn’t blowing today. Life is good! π€ I must say, I love your touches of spring and how you included some elements of your faith in such a pleasing way. It is subtle, yet distinctive. My brain is spinning to figure out how I can adapt your ideas to refresh our home. I like the idea of including symbols of our faith. I’ll be “shopping” my stash this weekend.
