This year I don’t think I could have asked for a better way to ring in the New Year. I was enjoying life at my uncle’s house which has become a tradition for New Years.. We spent our evening shooting off fireworks, sounding off the fire bell from the old firehouse, enjoying the bon fire, dancing to the music in the barn. You know, all those things you can do when you live out in the country. And although I left my camera at home for the evening, New Years Day we packed up and headed back out to the country to enjoy some more time with family.
Something about spending the afternoon at my uncle’s house settles my soul. It’s like there is no where else I’d rather be.
Maybe it’s riding around on the quads through the orchards and fields or doing trick rides…
Maybe it’s the fact that we always end up shooting guns because well, we can…
Maybe it’s the fact that we race go-karts on a pretty legit track, complete with our own push car….
Maybe it’s the fact that my uncle has a two seater outhouse, I mean, how many people can claim that..
Maybe it’s the fact that I was surrounded by my family..
Or maybe it’s the serene feeling I get while sitting on the porch of the barn just enjoying the quietness the country brings.
No matter what the reason, there is no denying the fact there is a special place in my heart for the country. And it’s where I long to be.
